The original album spent 20 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s TOP POP LPs chart. Nominated for a Grammy Award in 1961, it became the 2nd most successful soundtrack album of the 60s only losing out to West Side Story!

I'd only ever heard the Blue Hawaii soundtrack as the finished album, so hearing the raw session takes across these four discs was a genuine surprise. The alternate versions of the same songs back to back really show how much the arrangements shifted between takes.

The four discs mean you finally get to hear the false starts and studio chatter between takes, which is honestly the best part. Disc 3 alone was worth the price for me, the alternate versions sound so much cleaner than the bootlegs I used to trade.
