Andrew ★★★★★

The 5 CD set sounds incredible, especially the stripped-back gospel takes where you can really hear the room. I've played the May 1966 sessions three times already and keep catching little vocal things I missed before. Worth every penny for the packaging alone.

Didn't expect the alternate takes of "How Great Thou Art" to differ so much take to take — disc four alone was worth the price for me. Five discs of session material is a lot to get through, but the sequencing makes it easy to dip in and out.

The May 1966 session outtakes on disc two are worth the price alone, especially hearing him work through the gospel arrangements take after take. Five CDs feels like a lot until you realize there's almost no filler. The booklet photos from those Nashville sessions are a nice bonus I wasn't expecting
